How to Plan the Perfect Engagement Party

Today, many people are choosing to celebrate the biggest news of their lives with a traditional engagement party. This event serves many practical purposes and a great engagement party can set the tone for a spectacular wedding.

At FIVE Event Center, we’ve come up with a few common questions and answers about planning an engagement party in Minneapolis.

Who Throws the Engagement Party?

Traditionally, the parents of the bride pay for the engagement party, but some couples choose to host their own and some even opt for two parties – one paid for by each set of parents.

Where Should I Hold the Party?

Well, we’re biased of course, but we suggest FIVE Event Center. We have a great space, full bar, and award-winning partners for catering services. Check out our FAQs and contact us for more information.

Whom Should I Invite?

The most important thing to remember is that anyone invited to the engagement party should also be invited to the wedding. Think about how many people you’ll be inviting to the big day and work backwards.

What Should I Include with the Party?

Food, drink, speeches and, most importantly, fun! This event should be more relaxed and casual than the wedding itself. Let your guests gather and mingle and enjoy each other’s company without putting too much of a formal structure on the evening.

How Should I Invite the Guests?

Formal invitations aren’t necessary, and most modern couples choose to invite guests via private social media invites or email. If the parents are hosting, be sure to get a list of invitees and send out information at least a month after the engagement and at least a month before the party itself.
